Bill Brandt was a significant British photographer who was famed for his distorted landscapes and nudes, and his high-contrast images of British society. Born in 1904 in Hamburg, Brandt grew up over the course of World War One. Contracting tuberculosis after the war, Brandt travelled to Vienna for treatment via psychoanalysis.
