Imagine
a world in which art did not exist. It
is a very frightening idea. Whether we
are conscious of it or not, art is all
around us and it brightens and enriches
our lives in many different ways. A picture
can be a source of inspiration and relaxation,
it can tell a story, form a friendship,
make a room complete and preserve our
memories. It can even make us rich if
we have chosen well and bought it at the
right time.
Buying art is not just about appearence,
or money, it is about feelings, memories
and interest.
At the New Gallery, we think that you
should always buy what you like, what
fascinates you, and what you fall in love
with. Investment potential is important,
and could realise you significant benefits,
but it ought to come second when choosing
what you are going to buy. Investing in
art is a long term project and in our
experience, most collectors who have developed
valuable collections have had a deep love
of the works they have bought and had
many years of pleasure from them before
they sold them again, usually to buy more
art!
"Life
is not a support system for art, it is
the other way round."
Stephen
King
